    EPIGRAPH: But being drawn to the subject matter didn't necessarily make me the best person to direct it. I knew there was something I wasn't getting at. Maybe too much identification with the material didn't give me enough distance to grasp the technical demands of each scene. Fortunately, Keng Sen stepped in and pulled it together. We ended up co-directing the play and having a great deal of success.
